Flapdot is made by an independent developer based in India. The Mac app has no usage analytics. Our website uses analytics to understand visits and purchases. For privacy questions, contact hello@flapdot.com.

The Mac app

Your settings stay on your Mac. The app has no account, ads or usage tracking, and website analytics do not collect your settings or widget activity.

To manage your license, the app sends your license key and your Mac's name to Dodo Payments when you activate it. Periodic checks and deactivation requests send your key and activation identifier. The app also checks for updates at flapdot.com using Sparkle; automatic checks can be changed in Settings. These services receive connection information such as your IP address.

Website analytics

We use SignalDesk, our self-hosted analytics service on Cloudflare. It collects pages visited, referring pages, campaign tags, button and outbound-link clicks, and time spent on pages. It also records your browser, operating system, device category and approximate country, region and city.

Visitor and session identifiers help us recognise repeat visits across flapdot.com subdomains. We share these identifiers with Dodo at checkout and use payment information to connect purchases to visits and traffic sources. This can link browsing activity to a buyer's name and email address.

Cookies

Website analytics start when a page loads and use first-party cookies. The visitor cookie lasts up to one year and the session cookie up to 30 minutes, refreshed by analytics activity. You can block cookies or analytics requests in your browser.

Cookie and browser-storage details

ml_vid: visitor ID; one year from the latest analytics activity.
ml_sid: session ID; 30 minutes from the latest analytics activity.
ml_t: domain test cookie, removed immediately after the test.
ml_ignore: local-storage preference, if SignalDesk's browser opt-out is set; stays until removed or browser storage is cleared.
flapdot:from: when a launch waitlist is shown, local storage remembers the first visit's source, campaign and landing page until browser storage is cleared.

Purchases and contact

Dodo Payments handles checkout, receipts, taxes and licenses as our merchant of record. We receive customer names, email addresses, country and transaction details for support and revenue reporting. We never receive full card details.

If you join a launch waitlist, we collect your email, country and visit source to send the promised email and understand signups. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection. If you contact us, we use your message and contact details to respond.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts our website and analytics and processes network information, including IP addresses. We do not store raw visitor IP addresses in SignalDesk's analytics records. Dodo processes payments and licensing. Their services and our access from India may involve processing outside your country. See Cloudflare's privacy policy and Dodo's privacy policy.

Retention and your rights

Analytics and purchase records currently have no automatic deletion schedule. Clearing cookies does not delete server records. Some financial, licensing and support records may need to be retained for purchases, disputes or legal obligations.

Email hello@flapdot.com to request access, correction or deletion, or object to our use of your data. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to restrict processing, receive a portable copy or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity and retain legally required records. We aim to reply within 30 days, subject to applicable legal deadlines.
