Your own label

Call it whatever you like: “LAUNCH”, “TOKYO”, “MOM'S 60TH”.

Down to the minute

Days first, then hours and minutes on the final day.

Wraps long names

Longer titles wrap onto more lines instead of being cut off.

Days, hours and minutes to the thing

Give it a name and a date — a launch, a flight, a deadline, a birthday — and Countdown keeps the number where you'll actually see it. Not in a calendar you have to open, not in a reminder you'll swipe away. On the desktop, in dots, every time you close a window.

Your own label

Call it LAUNCH, TOKYO or MOM'S 60TH. Long titles wrap onto a second or third line rather than getting cut off, and the dots resize so the whole thing still reads. Set the date to a particular time of day and it counts to that.

Down to the minute

It counts in days until the last one, then switches to hours and minutes. Underneath, the large and medium sizes keep a precise line — 3D 04H 12M — so you can see the gap closing. When the moment lands, the board says NOW!

How to add it

  1. Download Flapdot and drag it into your Applications folder.
  2. Open the app and give your countdown a title and a date.
  3. Right-click your desktop on an empty spot, and choose Edit Widgets.
  4. Search for Flapdot pick Countdown and drag the size you want onto the desktop.

Sizes

Countdown comes in Small, Medium and Large. macOS lets you drop the same widget on the desktop more than once, so you can keep a small one beside your notes and a large one where you'll see it from the sofa.

  • Small164 × 164
  • Medium344 × 164
  • Large344 × 344

Themes

All eight themes work with Countdown: Midnight, Obsidian, Paper, Matcha, Lemon, Sky, Amber, Phosphor. Four of them glow the way a real dot display does; the rest are flat and quiet. Set one for the whole app, or give this widget its own.
